WHOTW / Dealing With a Maniac

There has been a flurry of activity on the 2k Party tables this week, as a maniac by the name of willc69 has been running around like a rabid dog. Now willc is not a good player by any means - he will call potsize bets on the flop with nothing but overcards, he will make bluffs where he is likely to be called and could be drawing dead, and he will never consider folding anything resembling a pair or a draw. This sort of thing is not at all unusual:

In spite of his considerable deficiencies, he has accumulated some obscenely large stacks this week playing at the 2k tables. Yesterday he simultaneously had two stacks of over 10k in play. Watching him build these stacks was appalling. There were some spectacular bad beats, as there always are when a maniac gets going. But most of willc's money was generated through experienced players mishandling him. Instead of sitting back, waiting for big hands, and putting the hammer down as a massive favorite, many of the 2k regulars challenged willc with subpar holdings and bluffs. These attempts almost always ended in failure.

After watching willc's rise yesterday, I have concluded that 99% of Party Poker has no idea how to play the game. No one adapts, except for GnightMoon, and that is why Moon is the best.
